You’ve said “yes” to your dream partner, and now it’s time to plan the wedding of your dreams. In this year’s Guide for the Bride, we talked with four of South Florida’s premier wedding and event planners about what’s trending in gowns, flowers, catering, invitations and more, along with their preferred venues and vendors. With their expertise, along with inspiration from weddings they’ve planned, you can be sure your big day will be one to remember.

What’s the first thing a bride should do after becoming engaged? She should sit with her family and fiancé and come up with a budget. Next, create a guest list and a date or month preference. Then, interview and hire a planner.

What are tips for narrowing down venues and vendors? Limit yourself to two or three from each category by reading reviews, asking for phone consultations and inquiring about fees. This way, you aren’t wasting your time by meeting with someone or seeing a venue that isn’t a good fit.

What’s trending for weddings? Coming up with new and innovative ways to incorporate flowers into the decor to create the ultimate “wow” factor. You’ll see more floral chandeliers and over-the-top designs surrounding—or built into—the cake and dessert displays.

What are inventive ways for guests to find their seats or sign in? We always try to personalize details based on the bride and groom and the hobbies they share. I worked with a couple who had traveled all over the world together. We used a guest sign-in globe, a suitcase containing luggage tags for seating and programs listing all the places they had been. And instead of table numbers, tables were named after their favorite cities.
