On Friday, April 5th, the Humane Society of Greater Miami’s signature event, Pawpurrazzi, brought nearly 400 of Miami’s philanthropists together at the University of Miami’s WATSCO Center for a unique and memorable evening to benefit the homeless animals. Led by Co-Chairmen Bonnie Crabtree and Bill Jones, and with the help of WOW MKTG, this year’s event was reimagined to shine a light of HOPE (Helping Orphaned Pets Everyday) for Miami’s homeless pets and raised over $300,000.
The event began with a cocktail hour sponsored by Bacardi, USA, and 50 Eggs, Inc. where guests enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres while perusing the silent auction. Dogs enjoyed a “pup”tail hour of their own sponsored by Purina, Doggie Bag Café and Doggy Ice Pops. People also enjoyed striking a pose at the Pets and People Portrait Studio and getting custom caricatures of them and their pets. A delectable five-star dinner and a decadent dessert buffet were accompanied by a great show emceed by CBS4 News Anchor, Lauren Pastrana. The night’s production began with a tribute to Penny Stamps in memory of her amazing contributions to the homeless animals. Then a special presentation dedicated to the dogs, cats, and supporters of the Humane Society was accompanied by musical performances by Carlos Sosa Denis. The Parade of Adoptable Dogs gave adorable adoptables a moment in the spotlight – and four lucky doggies found homes! One dog’s big reveal helped raise much-needed funds for the organization’s Second Chance Fund, a fund dedicated to helping injured pets needing extra medical care. Finally, guests put on their party shoes for a highly anticipated dance party. Some did the hustle with their pup while others used the doggie-sitting services provided by D.O.G.; a truly unique, one-of-a-kind experience.
