TRENDING GOLF: Play Like the Pros

TPC Sawgrass, one of the nation’s most celebrated golf destinations, introduces its newly renovated Stadium Course and expanded PGA Tour’s Performance Center.

Every spring, professional golfers, fans, media and more descend upon the Sunshine State for the granddaddy of all PGA Tour events, the Players Championship. The prestigious tournament (unofficially known as the “fifth” major) takes place on the legendary Pete Dye–designed Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, just outside of Jacksonville. Famous for its main event—and infamous for its knee-knocking “Island Green” No. 17—the course recently underwent a major renovation project, where broader landing areas and new approach angles lead to more playable greens for professionals and amateurs alike.

Not only is TPC Sawgrass home to the Stadium Course, it’s the birthplace of the TPC Network and the backdrop to the PGA Tour headquarters. It also boasts a second championship course, Dye’s Valley, a less daunting hole-for-hole challenge, but just as beautiful and fun to play. Both courses launch from the facility’s massive Mediterranean-style clubhouse, which has spectacular veranda views, delicious dining options and history-laden walls.

A short stroll from the clubhouse to the end of an impressive flag-lined corridor takes you to the new PGA Tour’s Performance Center at TPC Sawgrass, directed by world-renowned golf instructor Todd Anderson. Offering both individual and group lessons, the center is a premier facility where expert instructors use the latest technology to help you fine-tune your putting, chipping, bunker shots and long game by tweaking your mechanics and equipment or upgrading your game with a custom fitting.

TPC Sawgrass’ staying partner, the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa, is just a shuttle ride away, and features serene lake and golf course views, four pools, an on-site spa, six affiliated restaurants and a wine bar.

The 2018 Players Championship takes place May 8-13. Watch the best names in the sport compete for the ultimate purse prize, or visit any other time of year and enjoy one of the state‘s most esteemed stay-and-play experiences.
