Coral Gables’ private Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club is a secluded golfing oasis located right in our very own backyard.

You don’t have to venture far from home to find a world-class golf course. Nestled along the scenic mangrove-lined shores of Biscayne Bay in Coral Gables lies the 220-acre Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club, a members-only retreat with seemingly endless world-class amenities. Though not explicitly in its name, a main draw of this prestigious club is its breathtaking par-71 Arnold Palmer Signature Course, which is dutifully managed by Troon Privé. As the only gated golf community in Miami-Dade County, Deering Bay offers exclusive access to its 18-hole course (plus its full practice facility and driving range) through equity and non-equity memberships that are available to residents and nonresidents alike.
Although situated in the middle of a major city, Deering Bay feels anything but urban. Head Pro Dave Ragan III, whose father played on the U.S. Ryder Cup team in the 1960s, credits the club’s remote Caribbean feel as a key component to its allure. “The hardest part of my job is leaving here,” Ragan says. “Deering Bay is a collection of South Florida’s best elements in one unforgettable place.” He says his favorite holes are No. 9, a narrow par-5 with a canal carry on the second shot, and No. 12, which has an elevated tee (about 50 feet above sea level) and panoramic views. Arnold Palmer also loved that hole, naming it one of his 18 favorite holes he ever designed.
