From the world’s fourth-largest private yacht to ones you can commission yourself, here are the boats plenty of people are talking about.
When a shipyard delivers 10 superyachts in the same series in less than a decade, you know it’s meeting with success. This is the case with Overmarine Group, the Italian builder of the famous Mangusta 165 series. Florida-based Moran Yacht & Ship is currently selling Mangusta No. 8, dubbed Moonraker, which was built in 2014 and was the first in Overmarine’s E series (the “E” stands for “evolution”).
The yacht’s sophisticated interior contains four luxe cabins on the lower deck, including a particularly spacious master suite featuring high ceilings, his and hers closets, and an en suite bathroom with a large tub and rainfall aromatherapy shower. Two unexpected amenities round out the lower deck: a cinema room (complete with a 65-inch TV, a wall-to-wall sofa and secret “candy drawers”) and a gym (complete with treadmill, cross-trainer, weights and a hamman steam shower).
Clearly, Moonraker is designed for individuals who like to entertain, which is even more evident in its various lounging areas, which include three comfortable dining areas, two bars, ample sunning space, a Jacuzzi and more. Other perks include a full-size cabinet humidor, a wine cooler and wine cabinets that hold nearly 100 bottles, a large outdoor barbecue, and a range of water toys (think: WaveRunners, water skis, paddleboards, and Sea-Scooters).
Not to be ignored is the attention to detail found throughout the vessel. “More than 250 fabrics, textures and materials were used to create her interior décor,” says Moran sales broker Ross Tannock. “Leather, mother-of-pearl and onyx are just three of them, and they combine with oversized windows in the main salon and skylights over the dining table to evoke the feeling of an indoor-outdoor home afloat.”
And in South Florida, having that floating home will come in handy, especially if you plan on taking weekend jaunts to nearby islands.
“Moonraker has a shallow draft and a top speed of 40 knots, which is astonishingly swift for a yacht this size. Because of this, she is ideal for cruising from South Florida to the Bahamas,” Tannock says. “This impressive superyacht offers a cruising experience to thrill all.”
